The theme song information for the live-action adaptation of “Oshi no Ko,” which will be featured in both a drama and a movie, has been revealed.
The series is based on the manga of the same name by Akasaka Aka and Yokoyari Mengo, which began serialization in “Weekly Young Jump” in 2020. The story follows twins Aqua and Ruby, who are reincarnated as “oshi” (favorite) children of the legendary idol Ai, a former member of the group “B Komachi.” As they enter the entertainment industry, the narrative explores various aspects of the “showbiz” world while Aqua investigates the truth behind Ai’s death.
In the live-action version, the role of Ai is played by former Nogizaka46 member Asuka Saito, Aqua is portrayed by Maito Sakurai, and Ruby is played by former =LOVE member Nagisa Saito. Additionally, Nana Hara plays the role of Kana Arima, a former child star, and Mizuki Kayashima plays Akane Kurokawa, a popular influencer who has feelings for Aqua, along with other cast members such as Ryo Narita, Kotaro Yoshida, Kana Kurashina, Nobuaki Kaneko, and Jun Kaname.
The drama consists of eight episodes, with a different artist providing the theme song for each episode. MY FIRST STORY, the music project Rokudenashi (featuring carrot and Vocaloid producers), Da-iCE, the punk band I’s (featuring Ano as the vocalist), Yabai T-shirt Yasan, WANIMA, Wednesday Campanella, and Umeda Cipher have each written original songs for the series. Among these, MY FIRST STORY’s “Akuma” will be released on October 28 (Monday), Rokudenashi’s “Sōsōfuichi” on November 4 (Monday, holiday), Da-iCE’s “Orange Youth,” featuring dialogue by Mizuki Kayashima, on November 11 (Monday), and I’s “Past die Future,” written and composed by Ano, on November 18 (Monday). “Past die Future” will also be the major debut single for I’s, which is set to disband by the end of the year. Each artist has provided comments regarding the announcement.
