The trailer and poster visuals for the live-action adaptation of ‘Oshi no Ko,’ which will be presented as both a drama series and a film, have been unveiled.
The story centers on twins Aqua and Ruby, who reincarnate as the “children” of legendary idol Ai, a former member of the first-generation group “B Komachi.” As they embark on their journey in the entertainment industry, the narrative explores various facets of the showbiz world, with Aqua investigating the truth behind Ai’s mysterious death. The original manga by Akasaka Aka and Yokoyari Mengo debuted in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and has sold over 18 million copies by July. The anime has also confirmed a third season, and a stage adaptation titled “Theater: 2.5-Dimensional Stage Adaptation of ‘Oshi no Ko,’ is set to premiere in December, generating even more excitement.
The drama series is scheduled to premiere on November 28, followed by the film on December 20. In the live-action adaptation, former Nogizaka46 member Saito Asuka will portray Ai, while Sakura Kaito will play Aqua and Saito Nagisa from =LOVE will take on the role of Ruby. Hara Nanoka will play Arima Kana, a former child actress, and Mizuki Kayashima will portray Kurokawa Akane, a popular influencer with feelings for Aqua. The cast also includes Narita Ryo, Yoshida Kotaro, Kurashina Kana, Kaneko Nobuaki, and Kaname Jun.
The drama trailer, released on October 7, opens with the dramatic events following the loss of the legendary idol Ai, propelling the story of twins Aqua and Ruby forward. Viewers are treated to glimpses of the diverse ambitions and calculations within the glamorous entertainment industry, including scenes from a dating reality show and drama filming. Additionally, the original song “We Are the Ultimate Idols!!” by the idol group B Komachi, featuring Ruby, Arima Kana, and MEM Chou, made its debut in the trailer.
