The stage adaptation of [Oshi no Ko] titled “Oshi no Ko: 2.5D Stage Edition” will be performed at Tokyo’s Theater H from December 13 (Friday) to December 22 (Sunday), and at Osaka’s Umeda Arts Theater Drama City from December 26 (Thursday) to December 29 (Sunday).
The original manga [Oshi no Ko], created by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, follows the story of twins Aqua and Ruby, who are reincarnated as the “favorite children” of the legendary idol Ai from the first-generation “B Komachi.” As they enter the entertainment industry, Aqua delves into the truth behind Ai’s death while exploring various aspects of the “entertainment world.” The TV anime is currently airing its second season. The original manga, serialized in Weekly Young Jump since 2020, announced its “final chapter” in June, with a live-action drama series set to release on November 28 (Thursday) and a film on December 20 (Friday), generating considerable excitement.
This stage adaptation marks the first time [Oshi no Ko] has been brought to the stage. It covers “Chapter 5,” which includes episodes 41 to 66 of the manga. The adaptation will feature the “2.5D stage edition” storyline, with unique stage elements such as the in-story play Tokyo Blade.
The script, direction, and lyrics are by Norihito Nakayashiki, the head of the theater troupe Kaki Kuu Kyaku. Music will be provided by Shunsuke Wada, known for his work on the TRUMP Series and the musical Touken Ranbu, and Haruki Neru, who began his career as a musical composer and lyricist through collaboration with Wada. Comments from all three creators have been released.

I love manga! I love theater! In other words, I absolutely adore “2.5D stage” productions! [Oshi no Ko] portrays the light and darkness of the entertainment world. Among them, the “2.5D stage edition” reveals the complexities of media mix and the challenges of acting, while conveying an absolute love for actors and creators. As a theater professional, I dedicate my soul to [Oshi no Ko] on stage!Music: Shunsuke Wada
Looking back, it’s been nearly nine years, soon to be a decade, of working hard to elevate the 2.5D stage (or so I hope, haha). To think that I will be involved in the music production for [Oshi no Ko] 2.5D Stage Edition… Is this what they call a miracle? While there’s a hint of fear about opening a forbidden box, and reflection on my own shortcomings, I’ll push those worries aside and deliver the bold and unique music of [Oshi no Ko] straight from the forefront of 2.5D productions!Music: Haruki Neru
I started working in the stage industry as Shunsuke Wada’s assistant, and now we’re collaborating on the music for [Oshi no Ko] 2.5D Stage Edition. The serialization of [Oshi no Ko] was happening when I was just starting out, like a fledgling Aqua. I had no experience, and it was nerve-wracking to think everything could be turned upside down. Now, years later, I’m making music for the theater, and I realize the challenges and growth that come with creating something with conviction. I’ll strive to create something great, even as I confront and overcome obstacles!
The role of Kurokawa Akane, who harbors romantic feelings for Aqua, will be played by Mirai Uchida. Naotake Tsuchiya, a former reader model, will take on the role of Narukishima Melt, while popular 2.5D actor Ryo Kitamura will portray Kamoshida Sakuya. Shun Ishida will perform as Mitano Ryo, an actor from “Gekidan Rararai.” Visuals for these characters from [Tokyo Blade] have also been revealed.
Additionally, the author of the in-show play [Tokyo Blade], Abiko Samejima, will be played by Marina Tagami. Mahiro Hiratai will portray the manga artist Yoko Kichijoji, who was assisted by Samejima. Kosuke Kujirai will take on the role of Raida Sumiaki, the overall manager of [Tokyo Blade], and Ryoma Baba will play the scriptwriter GOA. Other actors from “Gekidan Rararai” include Keiichi Sugiyama (★☆Kitaku AKT STAGE), Naoto Tada (Engekishudan Caramel Box), Shuhei Miura (Gekidan Tobiraza), Sayaka Nagata (Kaki Kuu Kyaku), Arisa Koga (Engekishudan En), Seiya Shirasaki (Japan Action Enterprise), and Shogo Samukawa (Japan Action Enterprise).
