Perfume selection starts from the smell of your skin. A perfume service that is an eye-opener
Celeina (MC): Rina Ogawa, you are the CEO of a consulting company focusing on digital marketing. What exactly do you do?
Ogawa: I call myself a hyper-yorozuya, and my motto is “I do everything”. My main job is to support those who are working in the digital field. For example, I do everything from SNS management to e-commerce site design.
Takano (MC): We heard a rumor that you are doing something related to fragrance as your life’s work in addition to your job.
Ogawa: Recently, there are services such as personal make-up and color diagnosis, and also stylists who come shopping with you and help you choose clothes. What I am doing is a fragrance version of that. When you buy perfume, the sales clerk selects a fragrance based on what you are currently wearing or what you like to smell like. In my case, this service allows me to smell the person’s skin and suggest scents that would suit them.
Celeina:When I heard about this service, it was an eye-opener. You don’t know the scent of your own skin by yourself, so it’s important to have someone else coordinate it for you.
Ogawa:You may know what fragrance you like, but when it comes to a scent that suits you, it’s hard to know for yourself. The fragrance that suits you is completely different from the one you smell the moment you put it on your skin.
Takano: I had never thought about it. What prompted you to start this service?
Ogawa: I have a friend who has a lot of essential oils, and we were experimenting with different essential oils just for fun. As I did so, I began to get a sense of what scents might suit her and what might not, so I blended essential oils and gave them to her as gifts, and she was very pleased. I thought, “This could be good,” and as I continued to do it, people around me started spreading the word that they could make it for me.
