The HD restored version of Christopher Nolan’s feature directorial debut ‘Following’ will be released in theaters nationwide on Friday, April 5.
The HD restored version will be screened in commemorating the Japanese release of Nolan’s latest film ‘Oppenheimer’ on March 29 (Friday). Oppenheimer” won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards held on Monday, March 11 (Japan time).
‘Following’ is a suspense film that tells the story of Bill, an aspiring writer who repeatedly follows passersby to get creative tips, and Cobb, who is obsessed with breaking into other people’s apartments and peeping into their private lives. The cast includes Jeremy Theobald, Alex Howe, Lucy Russell, and John Nolan.
Nolan, who was eagerly awaiting the film’s Japanese release, personally supervised the sound for the 5.1ch soundtrack for the HD restored version. The image resolution was increased by scanning the original 16mm elements in 4K, and scratches on the screen were removed using the latest technology. A rich image with beautiful detail was created.
Theaters will also distribute commemorative postcards as a special gift to visitors. The postcards will be available in limited quantities on a first-come, first-served basis from the day of each theater’s opening and will be discontinued as soon as they are gone.

<Synopsis>
Bill, an aspiring writer, repeatedly follows passersby to get hints for his writing.
One day, when Bill is following a man as usual, Cobb finds out that he is following him.
However, Cobb was also obsessed with breaking into other people’s apartments and spying on their private lives. Bill is gradually inspired by Cobb.
A few days later, Bill becomes interested in the woman in the photograph he and Cobb saw in the apartment they broke into. Eventually, Bill begins following her, but that day he becomes involved in an unexpected incident.
