Jeff Mills and Jun Togawa’s collaboration “Contradiction – Art Man in Brahman (Radio Edit)” will be released on Apple Music and iTunes Store on Wednesday, March 13.
The song will be released from the soundtrack of “THE TRIP – Enter The Black Hole”, a performing arts production directed by Jeff Mills, which will be performed at ZEROTOKYO in Shinjuku, Tokyo, on Monday, April 1. Shinichi Yamaguchi and Yamaji Kazuhide of Yapoos, the band in which Togawa is a vocalist, participated in the recording. The band’s Lion Merry is also credited for composing the melody. The song will be aired for the first time on J-WAVE’s “Grand Marquee” on Thursday, February 29 at 16:00.
THE TRIP” was first performed in Paris, France in 2008, and in Japan, the work was extended in 2016 at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall in Tsukiji, Tokyo, with video direction by COSMIC LAB, a live visual laboratory run by VJ C.O.L.O.
For “THE TRIP -Enter The Black Hole-,” the overall direction, script, and music will be by Jeff Mills, and the cosmological view / thoughts will be directed by COSMIC LAB in the video. The choreographer is Hiroaki Umeda, who is involved in everything from contemporary dance to digital art, and the stage costumes for each of the performing artists will be designed by Hiromichi Ochiai, a designer for the fashion brand FACETASM.
