The song “This Hell (feat. CHANMINA – Gyarupi Remix – Spotify Singles)” by singer-songwriter Lina Sawayama was released on Friday, April 12.
“This Hell” is from the latest album “Hold The Girl”, which was released in September 2022 and became the highest-placed Japanese artist ever at #3 when it first appeared on the UK album charts. The song is about the rights that Lina Sawayama is deprived of by the LGBTQ+ community, and was also used as the theme song for Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2023.
The newly released song is a new lyric written and sung by Chamina on the song “This Hell,” and will be featured in Spotify’s “GLOW” program in Japan, which introduces the appeal and perspectives of artists and creators from the LGBTQ+ community. It will be released as Spotify Singles, an exclusive Spotify content in Japan as part of Spotify’s “GLOW” program, which introduces the appeal and perspectives of artists and creators from the LGBTQ+ community. Comments from Lina Sawayama and Chan-minna and a making-of video have also arrived.

Love. Belief. Passion. Courage. The LGBTQ community is a force to be reckoned with today because of the collective passion of those who have fought to regain the rights that have been taken away from them because of their sexuality. But sadly, Japan is still in its infancy. The world is changing. Same-sex marriage. Anti-discrimination laws. Let’s not give up and keep raising our voices until these issues are addressed. We can change this world with you. Please fight together for a better world.Comment from CHANMINA
How can we choose not to love when there are so many people who deserve to be loved? I hope that the time when we have to keep talking about such a matter of course will soon be over. But maybe it’s just a few more days. If I can change this kind of hell, I will always speak up.
PRIDE CODE, a joint project between Spotify and Asahi Shimbun Podcast, was also launched simultaneously with the release of the song. The content will bring diverse voices from the LGBTQ community through music and podcasts, and will feature appearances by Lina Sawayama and Chanminah.
