LINE MUSIC has announced the artists for the third installment of “NEXT SPIKES.”
“NEXT SPIKES” is a project by LINE MUSIC to select upcoming next-generation artists, which began in January 2024. In the first installment, five groups including Azukawa, Garakuta, Mu To, Shikima, and Lavt were selected, followed by the second installment in April featuring Chevon, G over, Tomonari Sora, and NOMELON NOLEMON.
This time, the selected artists are ideric, Satou., berry meet, and Bocchi. The selection process involved surveys conducted by College Radio Japan (CRJ) among individuals aged 10 to 20, as well as student organizations.
ideric is a 16-year-old male high school singer-songwriter. He has established a new musical style that combines “Acoustic x Hip-Hop,” and his original song “Luminous Cup” posted on TikTok has received 600,000 views and 60,000 likes. He made his debut as an artist on July 1 (Mon.) with the song.
Sato. The song “3%” was released in January 2024, and its music video has received over 1.7 million views on SNS. Since that month, he has released seven consecutive months of music, which is characterized by a wide range of musical styles and a straightforward expression using only his voice and acoustic guitar.
berry meet is a three-piece band that started their activities in 2023. They are characterized by their pop, vivid melodies and warm, sentimental voices. In April 2024, the band performed at the Rocking On music festival JAPAN JAM 2024.
Bocchi is a three-piece rock band formed in the spring of 2021. In 2023, they will perform for the first time at Japan’s largest live house circuit festival “TOKYO CALLING” and the omnibus circuit live event “MINAMI WHEEL” and others for the first time.
The special website for “NEXT SPIKES” introduces each artist and includes listener comments from a questionnaire, as well as a playlist of the four groups’ music. The site also plans to offer projects in collaboration with the selected artists from time to time.
