LINE MUSIC has announced the second round of “NEXT SPIKES” artists.
NEXT SPIKES” is a project in which LINE MUSIC selects next-generation artists who are expected to be active in the future, and will begin in January 2024. In the first round, five artists were selected: Azusa River, Galakuta, Muto, Shi Ima, and Lavt.
This time, Chevon, G over, Tomonari Sora, and NOMELON NOLEMON were selected. As in the first round, the selection was based on a questionnaire survey conducted by students in their teens and 20s, as well as by the student group College Radio Japan (CRJ).
Chevon is a three-piece rock band from Hokkaido, all 23 years old. Their unpredictable song development, complex and bizarre melody lines, and one-of-a-kind singing voice are their distinguishing characteristics, and in their third year since their formation, they are scheduled to perform at many major festivals, including “JAPAN JAM 2024” and “VIVA LA ROCK 2024.
G over is a four-piece band that started in 2021 and has been active without revealing the members’ backgrounds or real faces. Their emotional and straightforward lyrics that pierce the heart are attracting attention from people of all ages.
Tomonari Sora is a singer-songwriter who writes lyrics, composes, arranges, and illustrates all by herself. Her genre-defying, high-quality J-POP sound is appealing, and her song “Oni no Banquet,” released in January, has been a big hit with more than 250 million views in related videos.
NOMELON NOLEMON is a J-POP unit consisting of vocaloid P Tsumiki and singer Mariya Miki, who made their debut in 2021 with “INAZMA” and have been creating a buzz with their pursuit of free and exciting musical expression.
The “NEXT SPIKES” special site introduces each artist, provides listener comments via a questionnaire, and includes a playlist of the four groups’ music. The site also plans to offer projects in collaboration with the selected artists from time to time.
