Two new groups have been announced as the third starring artists for “FESTIVAL FRUEZINHO 2024,” an urban music festival to be held on Saturday, July 6 at Tachikawa Stage Garden in Tokyo.
The first group is Sam Gendel, an LA-based multi-instrumentalist. Sam Gendel will collaborate for one day only with Juana Molina, a well-known Argentinean acoustic artist who has already been announced for the festival. The band will be a trio with drummer Lopez De Arcaute Diego.
FESTIVAL FRUEZINHO” is a spin-off of the “FESTIVAL de FRUE” festival in Kakegawa, Shizuoka, to be held around the summer solstice from 2022. To date, the festival has featured full band sets by Mulatu Astatke, a vibraphonist reputed to be the father of Ethiopian jazz; Juana Molina, a singer-songwriter born in Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Yuta Orizaka, Percussionist Mami Kakudo and dancer Kaho Kogure will perform in “Wave²,” a project in which they send waves with their bodies and sounds to each other.
