The film “Ice Cream Fever” will be released on July 14.
This is the first film directed by art director Tetsuya Chihara. The film is based on the story “Ice Cream Fever” from Mieko Kawakami’s short story collection “Ai no Yume toka” (“Dreams of Love, Etc.”).
The main cast includes Riho Yoshioka as Natsumi Tsuneda, a part-time worker at the ice cream shop; Serena Motola as Saho Hashimoto, a writer who is a regular customer at the ice cream shop; Utaha (Wednesday Campanella) as Takako Kuwashima, Natsumi’s junior worker; and Marika Matsumoto was announced as Yu Takashima, who goes to a public bath near the ice cream shop and lives for her work.
On April 6, five additional cast members were announced. The cast includes Yumi Adachi as Ai Takashima, the older sister of Yu Takashima; Junpei Goto (Jarujaru) as Izumi Furukawa, the father of Miwa Takashima, Yu’s niece played by Kotona Minami; Hattori (Macaroni Empitsu) as Seiya Nakaya, who has moved to a town with an ice cream shop; KOM_I as Kaoru, a former colleague of Natsumi Tsuneda; and Naoko Arakawa, the owner of the ice cream shop where Natsumi and her friends work, is played by MEGUMI.
Other cast members include Momo (CHARAN-PO-RANTAN) as the mother of the twins who come to the ice cream shop, Marina Fujiwara as Mari, a clerk at Yu’s favorite bathhouse, Iku Arai as Honoka Ando, Yu’s junior at work, and Natsu Summer as a clerk at the table tennis parlor where Yu and Miwa go together.
