The film “Alone Together” will be released on May 13.
The film’s director, Yukiko Mishima, was in charge of documentary programs while at NHK. After leaving NHK to make feature films, she directed and wrote the screenplays for “A Drop of the Grapevine” and “Night’s Tightrope”.
“Alone Together” is a documentary based on Mishima’s actual experiences on April 22, 2020, filmed by 20 actors each, with the entire footage supervised and co-produced by Mishima. The actors all shared a situation in which they heard a woman crying at 4:00 in the morning from somewhere, and Marika Matsumoto was in charge of the woman’s crying.
