The full trailer for the latest Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, has been released, revealing that Kenshi Yonezu will perform the theme song “Plazma.”
The highly anticipated project is a collaboration between Studio Khara, known for Evangelion, and Sunrise, the studio behind the Gundam series. Kenshi Yonezu’s involvement with the theme song was announced by the artist himself during the opening concert of his national tour, Kenshi Yonezu 2025 TOUR / JUNK, on January 9th at the Sekisui Heim Super Arena in Miyagi, where he also performed the song for the first time.

The theme song is featured in the newly released main trailer, where the intense battles of the protagonist Amate Yuzuriha, the key character Nyann, and Shuji are depicted, all set to the energetic melody of “Plazma.”
The director is Kazuya Tsurumaki, known for his work on the Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time and other Evangelion series. The series composition is by Yoji Enokido, who has worked on Sailor Moon S and Neon Genesis Evangelion, alongside Hideaki Anno, who also contributed to the script. The anime is scheduled to air on the Nippon TV network. Ahead of the broadcast, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- will be released in theaters, starting January 17.
The story follows Amate Yuzuriha, a high school girl living peacefully in a space colony, whose life changes when she meets Nyann, a war refugee. She is drawn into an illegal mobile suit combat competition, Clan Battle, and soon encounters a mysterious mobile suit, “Gundam,” and its pilot, Shuji, both being pursued by both the space army and the police. Taking on the entry name “Machu,” Amate pilots the GQuuuuuuX and is soon engulfed in battle. The cast includes Tomoyo Kurosawa as Amate, Yui Ishikawa as Nyann, and Shinba Tsuchiya as Shuji.
