The “TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2024” (TABF) is set to take place at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo in Kiba Park from Thursday, November 28 to Sunday, December 1.
The event will gather around 300 publishers, galleries, and artists from Japan and abroad, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the appeal of art books and zines firsthand. This year’s “Guest Country” feature will focus on Germany, showcasing the diversity of German art publishing. The event will include exhibitions highlighting prominent German bookmakers and a curated selection of independent contemporary publications from the German art scene.
In anticipation of the exhibition Ryuichi Sakamoto | Seeing Sound, Hearing Time, which opens on December 21, there will also be a special display dedicated to Sakamoto’s library. The exhibit will recreate a personal reading space with books he treasured in his later years and the furniture he used. Antique books and exclusive merchandise from the “Sakamoto Library” will be available for purchase, marking the library’s first-ever external exhibition.
Additional highlights include special booths by brands such as New Balance, Shiseido’s Hanatsubaki magazine, and BEAMS CULTUART, as well as a variety of programs like talks, workshops, signings, live performances, and the “Neighbors” community project.
