The interactive exhibition “Perfume Disco-Graphy: 25 Years of Tracks and Miracles” will be held from August 9 (Friday) to October 14 (Monday, Public Holiday) at “TOKYO NODE,” the information hub at Toranomon Hills Station Tower in Tokyo.
Perfume’s live performances have consistently pushed boundaries with cutting-edge technology and stagecraft. The success of their shows relies on the high level of physical precision of the members, where controlled choreography and bodily movements align perfectly. This exhibition, celebrating their 25th anniversary, focuses on the “miraculous synchronization” created through the members’ remarkable “physicality” and the “technology” provided by the supporting creators. It will be an immersive experience showcasing the challenges and innovations behind Perfume’s expressive performances and stages.
The exhibition is overseen by MIKIKO, who handles Perfume’s choreography and live direction, with installations by Daito Manabe and the creative collective Rhizomatiks. These long-time collaborators of “Team Perfume” will help unravel 25 years of their work from both the stage and behind-the-scenes. Tickets are available online with reserved time slots.
Additionally, the exhibition will feature a series of DJ events titled “DISCO! DISCO! DISCO!” with seven sessions planned. The first three nights will include a special revival of the J-POP DJ event “(Yūkabushiki-gaisha) Mōshiwake nai to,” which ended its run in December 2013. The reopening event, “DISCO! DISCO! DISCO! SPECIAL Mōshiwake nai to,” on August 16 (Friday) will feature Mitsuy Mōshiwake, Utamaru Mōshiwake Jr. (RHYMESTER), Okite Porsche Mōshiwake Jr. (Roman Porsche), Gyūzō Mōshiwake Jr. (Dengeki Network), and GEE Mōshiwake Jr. (GTS). This DJ party, themed around Perfume’s music, will take place at “DISCO PLANET” on the 49th floor rooftop “SKY GARDEN & POOL,” offering panoramic views of Tokyo’s skyline.
On August 30 (Friday) and September 6 (Friday), the exhibition space will transform into a disco floor for “DISCO! DISCO! DISCO! presented by Mōshiwake nai to.” On August 30, the lineup includes Konishi Yasoharu Mōshiwake Jr., okadada Mōshiwake west, BUDDHAHOUSE, and in the blue shirt. On September 6, the DJs will be tofubeats Mōshiwake west, SUGIURUMN, PARKGOLF, and Pasokon Ongaku Club. Tickets for these performances will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting August 5 (Monday) at 19:00. Additional dates for “DISCO! DISCO! DISCO!” are scheduled for September 13, September 20, September 27, and October 4, with details of the performers to be announced later.
