Creepy Nuts’ remix of Dua Lipa’s song “Illusion,” titled “Illusion (Creepy Nuts Remix),” was released on Friday, July 26.
“Illusion” is a track from Dua Lipa’s latest album, Radical Optimism, which was released in May. The song was also released as a lead single from the album, reaching the top spot on the U.S. dance chart “Hot Dance/Electronic Songs” and breaking into the top 10 on the UK Singles Chart “Official Singles Chart Top 100.” It has garnered over 250 million streams worldwide, and its music video has surpassed 35 million views, becoming a massive hit.
Meanwhile, Creepy Nuts achieved global success with their song “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,” released in January. The track entered the top 10 on Billboard’s “Global 200” chart and secured a spot in the top 3 on the “Global 200 Excl. US” chart. This collaboration came about when Dua Lipa took notice of Creepy Nuts’ success.
Creepy Nuts accepted the offer with enthusiasm. Their first collaboration with an international artist, the “Illusion (Creepy Nuts Remix),” features a catchy track produced by DJ Matsunaga. R-Shitei delivers impressive rap skills with lyrics full of homages to various titles from Dua Lipa’s past works.
“Drawing inspiration from the original lyrics of Dua Lipa’s ‘Illusion,’ I crafted lyrics that integrate myself into that world and introduce my own version of an illusionist.”
— R-Shitei
“The track has turned out really well, and it was a fresh challenge for us, opening up new possibilities.”
— DJ Matsunaga
“We’ve stayed true to ourselves, but there’s also a new dimension brought out by Dua Lipa’s ‘Illusion.’ Even though it’s in both Japanese and English, we hope everyone enjoys how smoothly it all comes together.”
— Creepy Nuts
“Don’t miss the remix by these incredibly talented artists.”
— Dua Lipa
