“Hello Kitty Exhibition – As I Change, Kitty Changes Too” will be held at the Tokyo National Museum’s Hyokeikan in Ueno, Tokyo from Friday, November 1 to Monday, February 24, 2025 (national holiday).
Hello Kitty has been in the spotlight for more than 130 countries and regions since its birth in 1974, and has also collaborated with MAISONdes on a number of projects. The period until December 31 is the “50th Anniversary Year” and various activities are being carried out under the theme of “Friend the Future”. The “Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary Nationwide Tour,” in which Hello Kitty will visit Sanrio stores nationwide, and large-scale shopping events that will tour department stores throughout Japan are currently being held.
The exhibition will focus on the theme of “Kitty and Me” over the past 50 years, and will feature the largest-ever display of unique Hello Kitty goods. The exhibition will also feature collaborations with artists, original video content, photo spots, and the sale of limited-edition merchandise.
Advance tickets for the “Hello Kitty Exhibition – As I Change, Kitty Changes Too” will go on sale at Ticket Pia from noon on Monday, July 1. A limited number of tickets will also be available with an original tote bag featuring Hello Kitty’s face emerging from the paper bag used in the exhibition’s key visual.

Dates: November 1, 2024 (Fri) – February 24, 2025 (Mon)
Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., until 7:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays (admission until 30 minutes before closing)
Closed: Mondays (If the day falls on a national holiday, the museum will be open on the following day, but closed on the following day.
Closed on Tuesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 26 through Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
Only Hyokeikan will be open on December 24 (Tue) and 25 (Wed).
