Ayatake Ezaki will distribute and release a piano trio version of his first album “Hajimari no Yoru” on Friday, May 31.
“Hajimari no Yoru,” depicting the interplay of light and shadow from sunset to dawn through music, is an album inspired by Junichiro Tanizaki’s 1930s essay collection “In Praise of Shadows,” which reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of Japan before the advent of electric lighting.
Marking exactly one year since the release of the original album in May 2023, the piano trio version of “Hajimari no Yoru” brings new dimensions to the compositions with the addition of Shuntaro Tokita on violin and Sonoko Muraoka on cello. All recordings were done at STUDIO Dede, with Yu Sasaki handling the recording and mixing. The result is a gentle, instrumental album. “Hajimari no Yoru” is also set for a vinyl release on Wednesday, July 24, making it Ayatake Ezaki’s first solo work to be available in analog format.
