Hosono House Cover Series Kicks Off with Mac DeMarco’s “Boku wa Chotto”

The production of the album “HOSONO HOUSE COVER” was announced, and the first single, “Boku wa Chotto” by Mac DeMarco, was released for download on February 21 (Wednesday).

The cover album “HOSONO HOUSE COVER” is released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Haruomi Hosono’s first album “HOSONO HOUSE”. Each song from the album will be released sequentially as a single for distribution, and participating artists include Canadian singer-songwriter Mac DeMarco, Sam Gendel, and John Carroll Kirby, Cornelius, Akiko Yano, Yuma Abe, mei ehara, Kukuku (Ikuko Harada & Mami Kakudo), Pearl & The Oysters, and Jerry Paper. John Carroll Kirby will participate as “John Carroll Kirby feat. The Mizuhara Sisters (Kiko & Yuka)” featuring Kiko & Yuka Mizuhara. Additional artists are scheduled to be announced.

The cover for Mac DeMarco’s “Boku wa Chotto” was designed by manga artist/illustrator Tuchika Nishimura. The cover photo is reminiscent of the cover photo of “Hosono House,” and Nishimura commented on his website that he was paying homage to the classic album. In addition, a comment from Mac DeMarco on the occasion of the distribution release is also available.

Haruomi Hosono is my hero, I love all his music, I have always been crazy about him and I am honored to be part of this compilation. I recorded this cover in August 2023 at Joe Byrd’s guest room in Paris. I hope my Japanese pronunciation is not too terrible.
