Haruomi Hosono has announced a major new chapter spanning a new studio album, U.S. tour, archival live release, and special pop up events.
The pioneering musician’s 23rd studio album, Yours Sincerely, explores themes of motherhood, compassion, and human consciousness across 10 new tracks. Continuing the genre defying approach that has shaped Hosono’s 57 year career across rock, techno, ambient, and experimental music, the album is described as a work centered on “harmony” beyond an era of loneliness and uncertainty. New artwork by Harune Horigome and updated artist visuals were also unveiled alongside the announcement.
The release will arrive in six physical formats in Japan, including vinyl, CD, cassette, and deluxe box editions packed with art sheets, postcards, magnets, handwritten letter inspired items, and Hosono’s self written liner notes.
In Japan, the album will be released in partnership with Echoes, while global distribution will be handled by influential U.S. label Ghostly International.
Hosono also confirmed his second ever U.S. tour, The Yours Sincerely Tour, kicking off this September. The run includes shows at Radio City Music Hall and Greek Theatre, with Toro y Moi joining as a guest in Los Angeles. New tour visuals designed by Jota Sato have also been revealed.
Alongside the new material, Hosono’s legendary 1976 live performance with Tin Pan Alley, Harry Hosono & Tin Pan Alley in Chinatown, will finally receive its first LP release on June 24 in a newly restored stereo mix. Originally recorded at Yokohama Chinatown’s historic Douhatsu Shinkan, the performance has long been regarded as one of the defining documents of Japan’s 1970s music scene.
To mark the release, limited time pop up events will be held at Douhatsu Shinkan and TRAN.SCENDER® HÔTEL Yokohama, featuring advance LP sales, exhibitions, and exclusive merchandise. 7 inch singles Silk Road and Peking Duck are also set for release on June 24.
