“The ‘Catching Wave Audition supported by NTT DOCOMO Studio & Live,” aimed at discovering and nurturing next-generation bands/global artists, has been confirmed. Entries have started from January 26th (Friday).
The audition, themed ‘Catch the Wave. Create the Swell.,’ is organized by NTT Docomo Studio & Live, a collaboration between NTT Docomo and Yoshimoto Kogyo, and operated by eggman, a well-established live house in Shibuya, Tokyo. The latter is known for managing murffin discs, the label that produced SUPER BEAVER, sumika, and Macaroni Enpitsu.
The Grand Prize artist will be awarded a prize of one million yen, and there are additional plans to produce an omnibus movie featuring the Grand Prize artist’s song as the theme and establish a new label dedicated to the Grand Prize artist. The entire process will be backed by eggman, with full support from NTT Docomo Studio & Live for video production and promotional assistance.
Entries are being accepted on the ‘Eggs’ website, a support service for emerging artists. The application deadline is March 3rd (Sunday), and after evaluations including music submissions and live auditions, the Grand Prize winner will be announced on April 12th (Friday).

A new label will be launched for the selected artists.
1,000,000 yen prize money will be awarded to the grand prix winning artist.
■Production of an omnibus movie using the winning artist’s music as the theme song, works by top scriptwriters and creators in Japan, etc.

[Eligibility Requirements]
Applicants must have no restrictions on their activities for this project.
Those who have an exclusive contract with a management office or record company, or are in the process of signing a contract, are not eligible to apply.
Applicants must not have any restrictions regarding the terms of the “Terms and Conditions of Entry” listed below.
One or two submitted songs are required.
The submitted song(s) will be subject to documentary selection for sound source screening.
The submitted music must be original music and original sound source (no photocopying). Entries with music or sound sources that infringe or are deemed by NTT Docomo Studio & Live Inc. to infringe on the copyrights or master recording rights of others’ works are prohibited. (Sampling is prohibited, except in the case of commercially available “rights-free sound sources” or other sound sources that have been explicitly authorized for sampling use, or other sound sources that have been clearly authorized by the rights holder.)
Songs must be submitted in full size. Music videos or live performances of the same song may be submitted along with the song and sound source. The lyrics of the song will also be considered, so please be sure to send the lyrics along with the song and soundtrack. If the song is not sung, there is no need to send the lyrics.
Any nationality, gender, performance style, genre, individual or group is acceptable.
Minors must have the consent of a parent or guardian.
Applicants must be able to participate in the in-person performance judging, but we may judge the best applicants based on sound recordings alone.
No withdrawals will be accepted after application.
