The third batch of performers for Fuji Rock Festival ’24, which will be held at Naeba Ski Resort in Yuzawa, Niigata, from July 26 (Fri.) to 28 (Sun.), has been announced.
The 11 acts announced this time include SZA, who was nominated for 9 Grammy Awards and won 3 at the 66th Grammy Awards, and singer/songwriter/producer Omar Apollo, who was nominated for Best New Artist at the 65th Grammy Awards, as headliners on July 26 (Friday). Singer/songwriter/producer OMAR APOLLO, saxophonist/flutist CHIP WICKHAM, who is active in the European jazz scene, FRIKO, a band from Chicago making their first visit to Japan, Robert “Sput” Searight of Snarky Puppy, and the “ROBERT SPUT” SEAWRIGHT. GHOST-NOTE, a project led by the multiple Grammy Award-winning percussion duo of Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Wirth of Snarky Puppy, and JAX JONES, a DJ/producer representing the UK house scene. The following day, July 27 (Sat), will feature Portishead vocalist BETH GIBBONS, Melbourne-based three-piece band GLASS BEAMS, whose music is a cross between East and West, and Chicago rapper NONNON, who released her first album in five years in 2023, ” NONAME, a rapper from Chicago who released his first album “Sundial” in five years in 2023, will be the newest additions to the lineup.
The final day of the festival, Sunday, July 28, will feature George Porter Jr. (GEORGE PORTER JR.), the original bassist of the New Orleans-based funk band The Meters, and members of Dumpstaphunk, in the “CELEBRATION OF THE METERS FEATURING GEORGE PORTER JR., IVAN NEVILLE, TONY HALL, IAN NEVILLE & DEVEN TRUSCLAIR”, a special session in honor of The Meters. Also coming to Japan will be California musician/comedian OLIVER TREE, also known as “the genius of the mushroom cut”.
At the same time, the “ROOKIE A GO-GO” stage project “FRF’24 appearance rights acquired! Aim for the main stage! One of the artists who performs on the “ROOKIE A GO-GO” stage in “Fuji Rock” in 2023 will be selected to perform on one of the main stages in “Fuji Rock” in 2024, and the voting period is until April 14 (Sun.).
