AOAO SAPPORO, the urban aquarium in Sapporo, Hokkaido, is set to host “AOAO NIGHT,” an event merging art and food, spanning from January to February.
Spanning six sessions, the event will showcase performances by musicians, rakugo storytellers, calligraphers, and various artists with ties to Hokkaido, all centered around the theme of “circulation” or “flow.” Accompanied by Hokkaido wines and primarily sourced from local ingredients, the event will unfold in the Blue Room on the 6th floor of the building, featuring a vast 20-meter screen and a 120-square-meter video projected onto the floor.


The first event on January 27 (Sat) will feature a live performance by Tsuyoshi Nariyama of sleepy.ab and Kensuke Yamauchi of Yamauchi, with video by Tatsuhiko Katoh and decorations by SUU. The third live performance on Wednesday, February 14 will be a rakugo performance by Yanagitei Kotaraku on the theme of “the sea”; the fourth performance on Friday, February 16 will be a performance by calligrapher Natsuki Kubo accompanied by music by tuLaLa; the fifth performance on Tuesday, February 20 will be for women only and will be held in a “blue and beautiful” space with a theme of moonlight at night. A yoga event by Yuki Kinoshita will be held in a “blue and beautiful” themed space. The sixth event on Sunday, February 25, will feature a live performance by Chima under the decoration of three-dimensional aquatic creatures made of mobiles by jobin.



Tickets are limited to 50 for each event (20 for the 5th event only), and an admission ticket is required in addition to the participation ticket. Tickets that include an admission ticket are also available. On the day of the event, AOAO Sapporo’s staff in charge of biology will give an explanation program about the attraction of penguins and jellyfish.

Description: Live music based on classical piano will be performed in a space decorated with three-dimensional art of aquatic creatures by “kinpro,” which also produces AOAO SAPPORO’s original collaborative goods.

Content: Enjoy a live rakugo performance on the theme of “the sea” by popular young rakugo storyteller Yanagitei Kochira.

Both tickets include admission to the Komichi no Yu Honoka.
Description: Enjoy the experience of releasing your mind through yoga in a “blue and beautiful” space themed on moonlight at night, and then enjoy the experience of toning your body at Komichi no Yu Honoka, also located on Raccoon Shoji. This event is for women only.

*If you enter with a “Nichinichi Pass” or “Yona Yona Pass,” you will only need an event ticket to participate in the event.
*The “Nichinichi Pass” holders can participate only with the event ticket if they enter the museum before 16:00, and the “Yona Yona Pass” holders can participate only if they enter the museum after 17:00.
