MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives in Tokyo will launch its new season, “Sound as Culture,” on October 1, exploring the evolving role of sound through immersive exhibitions, performances, and technology-driven experiences.
Located within TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY, the experimental museum presents biannual themed programs that combine Japanese culture with emerging technology. This season examines how sound is evolving beyond something we simply hear into something we can feel, interact with, and create.
Leading the lineup is an immersive live production inspired by Mamoru Hosoda’s Belle, opening October 10. Set five years after the film, the original spin-off follows Hiro-chan (As), the producer behind virtual pop star Belle, as they discover and develop a new singer inside the virtual world of U. The experience blends animation, live music, and internet culture.

Fans who apply during the official advance ticket lottery, running through August 4, will receive an exclusive ticket-style keychain. New comments from Hosoda and participating creators including Yuki Hiroya (NO MORE Inc.), Yuichiro Komikado, and TeddyLoid have also been released.
The season will continue with Feel the Sound, an immersive exhibition running from late November through late March 2027. Co-produced with London’s Barbican Centre, the exhibition will feature large-scale installations combining sound, vibration, music, and technology, inviting visitors to experience sound beyond traditional listening.
Additional programming throughout the season will include an international music and audiovisual festival, experimental DJ performances, gagaku concerts, theatrical productions, and more.
