Jim Jarmusch’s movie “Night on Earth” is making a limited one-week return to 45 theaters nationwide starting Friday, February 16.
The film, released in 1992, is an omnibus that depicts various events that take place in cabs around the world at the same time, including Los Angeles, where Winona Ryder, who is featured in the poster visual, plays a cab driver. The stories are told in the languages of each of the five cities, and the director Jim Jarmusch’s comedic sense of humor is used to depict the deep human connections and once-in-a-lifetime conversations that are created in the limited space of a taxi cab.
The re-release is part of the “Filmarks 90’s” project, organized by Filmarks, the largest movie/drama/anime review service in Japan. As the sixth installment of this initiative dedicated to reviving classics from the 90s in theaters, previous screenings have included “Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels,” “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” “Léon: The Professional (Director’s Cut),” and “Buffalo ’66.” Starting February 2 (Friday), the fifth installment, “Before Sunrise,” will also be screened for a limited two-week period.
The project will also include the distribution of an original visitor’s bonus. Details will be announced at a later date.
