The key visual and character visuals for the anime “MONSTERS Ippyakusanjo Hiryu Jigoku (Monsters: One Hundred and Three Emotions, Flying Dragon Samurai Pole),” which will be available on Netflix and Prime Video from January, have been released.

Based on the short story “MONSTERS” published in 1994 by Eiichiro Oda, the author of “ONE PIECE”, this is the first anime adaptation. Set in a time when dragons, which are considered “terrifying,” appear, the film depicts a sword-fighting action tale featuring Ryuma, a young wandering samurai in search of the “soul of a soldier.
The director/structurer is Atsushi Park, who directed the first season of the TV anime “Jutsu Kaisen” and “Jutsu Kaisen the Movie 0,” and the character designer is Takashi Kojima, who worked as character designer and chief animation director on “Flip Floppers,” “Doraemon Nobita’s New Dinosaur” and “Heike Monogatari. E&H production, represented by Atsushi Park, has already announced the production of the anime “Ramen Red Cat,” which will air in July 2024, and the original anime “NINJA KAMUI (Japanese title yet to be determined)” and “Project BULLET/BULLET” (tentative).
The character visuals released this time show five characters, including Ryuma, the only survivor of the town that was attacked by a dragon seven years ago, a girl named Flare, a first-rate swordsman named Cyrano, who is on a journey to recover a stolen dragon horn, and a dragon. Character voices will be announced at a later date.
The key visual released at the same time shows a close-up of Flare and Cyrano in the upper half and a close-up of Ryuma’s face in the lower half.
