CHO CO PA CO CHO CO QUIN QUIN will release its first album “tradition” on January 17, 2024 on analog LP and CD.
CHO CO PA CO CHO CO QUIN QUIN is a three-piece comic band from Tokyo, Japan, which has been gaining attention after appearing at “Asagiri JAM 2023” this past October. The band was formed when the members were in the fourth grade of elementary school, but once disbanded in the fifth grade because all the members were guitars. Later, one of the members became devoted to Latin American music and studied at the University of Havana, Cuba. He studied congas there and mastered “cho co pa co cho cho quin quin,” a type of rhythm pattern. 2021, the band reunited and is exploring music that adds fake shamanism to electronic music with percussion at its core.
Their first album, “tradition,” was released for distribution in July 2023, and was a hit for its crossover of various musical motifs while focusing on percussion. The CD version of the album will include all 12 tracks from the original release, plus a bonus track, “Cuba-Dub Remix,” which will be available only on CD.
