Takashi Homma’s solo exhibition ” Revolution 9: Homma Takashi ” will be held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Ebisu, Tokyo from October 6 (Fri) to January 21 (Sun), 2024.
Takashi Homma is a photographer and filmmaker who won the 24th Ihei Kimura Photography Award in 1999 for his photo book “Tokyo Suburbs.” This is Homma’s first solo exhibition at a Japanese museum in about 10 years, since his large-scale solo exhibition “New Documentary,” which toured three museums in Japan from 2011 to 2012.
The exhibition will feature approximately 50 works created over the past 10 years, centering on “THE NARCISSISTIC CITY,” a series of photographs of cities around the world shot using a room in an architectural structure as a pinhole camera. There will also be a special screening of video works, including new works that are being shown for the first time. Revolution 9,” the title of the exhibition, is a tribute to the Beatles’ song of the same name, which was created as a collage based on various sound sources.
During the Triennial, Homma will lead a series of six workshops and talks with guests. The exhibition catalogue, to be published in November, will also include photographs of the installation Homma took at the exhibition site, in addition to illustrations of the works.
