MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives has been selected for The World’s Most Beautiful Museums 2026, a global list presented by the UNESCO-linked architectural award Prix Versailles.
Founded at UNESCO headquarters in 2015, the Prix Versailles recognizes contemporary architecture that balances innovation, sustainability, cultural heritage, and social impact. The award evaluates projects not only for visual design, but also for how they engage with communities and ecosystems.
Opened on March 28 inside TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY, MoN Takanawa was selected as one of just seven museums worldwide for the 2026 list. Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the museum is distinguished by its spiral exterior wrapped in greenery.
Final honors including the Grand Prize and special awards for interior and exterior design will be announced at the Prix Versailles ceremony later this year.
