TOKYO Sekai has released a new song, “Welcome To TOKYO SEKAI,” and announced his first-ever solo concert, titled Welcome to TOKYO Sekai.
Born in January 2001, TOKYO Sekai is a rapper-songwriter from Tochigi Prefecture, gaining attention for his “Showa Kayou Vibes” style after appearing on Rap Star 2024. He is also part of the music crew Legal Nerd Boyz alongside rapper Shirafu and trackmaker SKINNY YMT.
The new track, Welcome To TOKYO SEKAI, expresses TOKYO Sekai’s desire for listeners to rediscover who he is while also serving as an escape for those facing uncertainty and worries. The beat was produced by NOAH, who previously showcased strong chemistry with him on the December 2024 EP Roman. The song blends modern rock with elements of 1980s city pop, while sound engineering was handled by Sho Kanie, a fellow Tochigi native, continuing their collaboration from Roman.
The latest artist photo and artwork were taken by Tokyo-based photographer YURI HORIE, who also shot the images for Roman. The artist photo was captured at “Drive-In Denden,” a café and standing bar in Asakusa, Tokyo, with the concept of “Nostalgic Electric Shop.” The jacket design was created by the up-and-coming artist KID ROSE, who also designed the “Drive-In Denden.”
Additionally, TOKYO Sekai has announced his first solo concert, Welcome to TOKYO Sekai, which will be held on May 17th (Saturday) at Shibuya WWW X in Tokyo. The fastest ticket presale has also begun. Tickets will be available for regular standing admission, as well as a special package that includes a CD of his upcoming first album (which will be available for pick-up at the venue on the day of the event). The vibrant promotional image, which recalls the look of a decorated truck (Dekotora), was designed by KID ROSE and photographed by YURI HORIE, just like the artwork for the new track. About the New Song “Welcome to TOKYO SEKAI”
This song was created with the desire to make people understand what “TOKYO Sekai” is all about! I wanted to express that when people are overwhelmed by anxieties about their future, or when they feel lost due to their own insecurities and struggles, I hope they can forget about the harsh realities and escape for a while. The beat blends modern rock sounds with 80s CITY POP elements, creating a fantastical, otherworldly vibe with a comfortable melody that I believe transports listeners to a world far removed from reality. I really hope you’ll listen to it!
About the Solo Concert ‘Welcome to TOKYO Sekai’
I’ve always felt different and inferior to others, and as a result, I’ve often faced ridicule and rejection throughout my life. Even though I didn’t do anything wrong, and I was doing my best, I was constantly blamed and looked down upon. I felt like there was no place for me in this world.
That’s why I wanted to create a place where no one would criticize me, a place where I wouldn’t feel inferior—somewhere I could live even as a person who couldn’t do anything. That’s how I started making music. With this solo concert, I want to show people who feel like I did that they have a place to belong. I want to create a space where everyone can forget the harsh realities and feel like they want to come back again. I aim to make it a fun concert where, through my performance, people can feel concrete hope and learn how to be happy, rather than abstract ideas. I hope that people who feel like they don’t fit in or struggle with their self-worth will come!
Although the lyrics of “Welcome to TOKYO SEKAI” say “admission is free,” please note that the solo concert does require an entry fee! Sorry about that! In addition to the regular tickets, there will also be advance tickets that include a CD of my upcoming first album, which is set for release this spring, so I’d appreciate your support for that as well!
