The latest franchise in the iconic Jurassic Park series, originally created by Steven Spielberg, is officially hitting Japanese theaters in summer 2025. Alongside the announcement, the film’s first trailer has been released.
Produced by Steven Spielberg, the film is directed by Gareth Cope (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Creator), with a screenplay by David Koepp, who previously wrote Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. This marks Koepp’s return to the franchise after 28 years.
Set five years after Jurassic World: Dominion (2022), the story follows dinosaurs struggling to adapt to the modern world. Now, they reside in a secluded equatorial biosphere that mimics their prehistoric environment. Within this tropical sanctuary, three of the largest dinosaur species hold the key to a groundbreaking medical discovery. Special operative Zora Bennett is assigned a top-secret mission to extract their DNA. She embarks on the dangerous expedition with her trusted team leader Duncan Kincaid, paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, and corporate executive Martin Krebs. Their journey leads them across perilous waters, where they face attacks from deadly marine creatures and encounter a stranded civilian family. Soon, they realize they’ve landed on an island that once housed a classified Jurassic Park research facility—now a forbidden zone overrun with abandoned dinosaurs.
Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, the franchise’s first female protagonist. The cast also features Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid, Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, and Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays Ruben Delgado, the father of the stranded family.
The first trailer teases Zora’s mission briefing, her team’s journey to the island, and the discovery of the hidden research facility. Dinosaurs make a thrilling return, including the fearsome Spinosaurus, intelligent and ruthless Raptors, the massive flying Quetzalcoatlus, the frilled Dilophosaurus, and the franchise debut of the colossal Titanosaurus. The trailer ends on a high-adrenaline note with an intense battle against a Mosasaurus, promising edge-of-your-seat action.
