Scene cuts from the film “Ghost World,” which will be released in theaters on November 23 (Thursday, national holiday), have been released.
Released in 2001, the film has been remastered and will be shown nationwide for the first time in 22 years. When the film was last released in Japan, its catch copy, “Living in Dame”, caused a sensation, and it is still talked about today as a film about teenagers who find their place in the world with a sense of ennui. Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Daniel Clowes, this is the first fiction feature film directed by Terry Zwigoff.
Set in suburban America in the 1990s, the film features Enid and Rebecca, childhood friends and best friends who have graduated from high school and have yet to decide what to do with their lives. The film is a coming-of-age black comedy that depicts the months of distance that gradually develop between Enid, who meets Seymour, a middle-aged man who is a record fanatic and develops a close relationship with him, and Rebecca, who gets a job at a local coffee shop and tries to come to terms with society and become independent. The film is a coming-of-age black comedy.
Enid is played by Thora Birch, who appeared in “American Beauty,” Rebecca by Scarlett Johansson, who also appeared in “The Avengers” and “Asteroid City,” and Seymour by Steve Buscemi.
The nine photos released this time include scenes of 17-year-old Thora Birch and 15-year-old Scarlett Johansson celebrating their high school graduation, Steve Buscemi, who Eiichiro Oda claims to have modeled Sanji, a character from “One Piece,” and Brad Renfro, who passed away suddenly in 2008, in the background. 9 scenes, including a scene in which Sanji is reflected in the background.
A special poster by Kaneko Atsushi, the manga artist who created “EVOL” and other films, has also been released. The poster features Enid wearing a Catwoman mask and Rebecca standing side by side in an apron working at a café! I think it is the happiest form of film adaptation.
