NiEW’s “expop!!!!!” February Lineup to Feature Geloomy, Guiba, Meg bonus, and Beijing’s Hi Link Channel

NiEW presents the free-entry music event exPoP!!!!! Vol.170 on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Spotify O-nest in Shibuya, Tokyo.

Sponsored by the music distribution service TuneCore Japan, this edition will feature four acts: Geloomy, Guiba, Meg bonus, and Hi Link Channel from Beijing, China.

Geloomy, a neo-disco band formed in 2024, consists of four friends: Shouchou (Gt/Vo), Jinzou (Ba), Kanzou (Key), and Haizou (Dr), named after human organs. Their first single Vagi@, released in April 2024, quickly gained attention, with its self-produced music video surpassing 120,000 views. The choreography was selected as one of the “Top 10 Best of 2024” by TV Asahi’s EIGHT-JAM. Following that success, Geloomy released their first EP Saladbowl in September 2024 and their new track airam on New Year’s Day 2025, garnering growing interest for their future endeavors.

Guiba, a band centered around vocals, was formed in 2022 by Akatsuka (Vo/Gt), Taiki Kumagai (Gt), Shake Sofian (Ba), and Takumi Isobe (Dr). In 2024, they released a single every month for four consecutive months, and in September, they released their second album Kowaremono. The members are also actively involved in other bands, including South Penguin, Helsinki Lambda Club, Group2, and odol.

Meg Bonus is a music unit formed by Kei Nomoto (Vo/Gt/Key/etc) and Yakumo Kudo (Dr), both born in 2005. The unit was formed in May 2024 when they completed their demo tracks. In October 2024, Nomoto wrote the lyrics and composed most of the music, performing nearly all of the instruments on their first EP 18PERSONAL, marking the start of their serious music career. In December, they released jet, accompanied by a music video edited by Nomoto. The unit is quickly gaining attention for its promising future.

Hi Link Channel, participating as part of TuneCore Japan‘s audition segment, is an indie band formed in Beijing, China, by Tu Ri Xian and Li Qingyun. Their music blends rock with electro elements, and they released the single Shuibu Zha in 2023, available on platforms like Apple Music. The band also shares live performance videos on their Bilibili channel.
