The Japanese poster and trailer for the film ‘The Room Next Door,’ set for release in Japan on January 31, 2025, have been unveiled.
Directed by Pedro Almodóvar, known for ‘All About My Mother’ and ‘Talk to Her,’ this is his first feature film in English. The story focuses on Martha, who is suffering from a severe illness and, rejecting treatment, wishes for euthanasia by her own will, and Ingrid, her former close friend, who spends the final days by Martha’s side. Tilda Swinton stars as Martha, while Julianne Moore plays Ingrid, portraying a delicate and beautiful friendship. The film premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation lasting nearly 20 minutes and won the prestigious Golden Lion.
The Japanese poster released shows the faces of Martha and Ingrid in a mirrored composition, capturing the resonance of their intertwined lives—two women who, though similar, have walked different paths. The newly released trailer showcases the special days Martha and Ingrid spend together, with Ingrid trying to fulfill Martha’s final wish. A key character from their past, played by John Turturro (Barton Fink, The Batman), also appears in the film.
Additionally, online Movie Ticket (Mubik Ticket) sales for the film will begin on November 15, 2024. As a special gift, buyers will receive a “Mubik Ticket Digital Card,” which includes the poster visual and a viewing record.
