The film ‘The Room Next Door’ is set to be released in Japan on January 31, 2025.
This marks Pedro Almodóvar’s first English-language feature film, known for works such as ‘All About My Mother’ and ‘Talk to Her.’ The film tells the story of Martha, who suffers from a severe illness and desires euthanasia on her own terms, and her former best friend Ingrid, who supports her during this difficult time. Tilda Swinton stars as Martha, while Julianne Moore plays Ingrid, showcasing a delicate and beautiful friendship.
‘The Room Next Door’ premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, receiving approximately 20 minutes of applause and acclaim, and winning the prestigious Golden Lion award. The Japan premiere took place on October 31 at the ongoing 37th Tokyo International Film Festival, with additional screenings scheduled for November 3 and 5.
