Pepepe-no-kai + Iihenji’s stage play “Life and Work” will be performed at Waseda Little Theater Doramakan in Tokyo from Wednesday, November 27 to Monday, December 2.
Pepepe-no-kai is a group founded in November 2018 with the aim of creating new art for the Reiwa era.The group is made up of members in their 20s, and they create “poetry theatre” using plays by Yamato Miyazawa, who is also a poet and writer/director. Iihenji is a theater group from Waseda University Theatre Club, which was launched in June 2017. Rather than providing answers, the group focuses on “the response between you and me” and aims to perform theatrical works as “opportunities” to think together.
In this performance, three members of Pepepe-no-Kai and three members of Iihenji perform one-man plays about their own lives and work. They will consider what kind of life and work each of them is doing and what they will value in the future. Two one-man plays will be performed as a set: A is “Can You Eat Crickets?” written/directed by Yamato Miyazawa and starring Haruhi Ishizuka, and “Kashobun” written/directed/starring Tomoka Iio.” B is “BODIES” written and directed by Miyazawa and performed by Miyuki Kumano, and “Tatsumaki” written, directed, and performed by Nahoko Ozawa; C is “All, One and All” written and directed by Miyazawa and performed by Suzuna Sato, and “play myself by myself” written, directed, and performed by Shiori Nakajima.
