The “GUCCI COSMOS” exhibition will be held at the Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto from Tuesday, October 1st to Sunday, December 1st.
This exhibition is positioned as the culmination of initiatives celebrating the 60th anniversary of the luxury fashion brand GUCCI, founded in Florence, Italy, arriving in Japan. Previously, GUCCI has illuminated Tokyo Tower with its iconic green and red colors and showcased a project where traditional Japanese artisans and contemporary artists reimagined vintage “GUCCI Bamboo 1947” handbags.
The “GUCCI COSMOS” exhibition is a global touring show that has already been held in Shanghai and London, with space design by British artist Es Devlin and curation by Italian fashion scholar and critic Maria Luisa Frisa. The exhibition explores GUCCI’s history and evolution through iconic designs and items preserved in Florence’s archive, and will also feature Japan-exclusive pieces that highlight the brand’s long-standing creative relationship with Kyoto, Florence’s sister city.
Advance tickets will be available at various ticket outlets starting Sunday, September 1st.
