The first wave of artists and programming for the TAMATAMA FESTIVAL 2024, set for October 19 (Saturday) and 20 (Sunday), has been announced.
Held around Tama Center Station in Tama City, Tokyo, the festival is organized and produced by WACK, known for nurturing artists like BiSH, and NiEW, which supports alternative culture. The inaugural event in 2023 attracted around 40,000 attendees over two days.
At the former Nishi-Ochiai Junior High School, the “WACK-Style Cultural Festival” will return. Performing will be seven WACK groups: ExWHYZ, GANG PARADE, ASP, Mameshiba no Taigun, Tokyo Somewheres, BiTE A SHOCK, KiSS KiSS, and Lichi. Activities will include live performances and theater in the gymnasium, as well as sports and cultural programs in the schoolyard and buildings.
An outdoor stage in front of Paletone Tama will feature a special edition of NiEW’s free-entry music event “exPoP!!!!!,” titled “exPoP!!!!!@TAMATAMA2024.” The first lineup includes Sunny Day Service, Summer Eye, Sarasa, Tomonari Sora, Nagakumo, Haruko Oishi, Khaki, and HALLEY. Additional artists and performance dates will be announced later. TuneCore Japan is holding auditions for this stage, with applications closing on August 30 (Friday).
Paletone Dori, the street leading from Tama Center Station to Paletone Tama, will host “Tokyo Curry Culture in TAMA,” a curry festival featuring a curated selection of curry shops ranging from katsudon to spice curries and South Indian cuisine, organized by curry curator Akira Matsuhiro. Details of participating shops will be announced later.
Additionally, the Paletone Tama open studio will host “TAMA Tech 2024.Autumn—Tama ‘City Technology’ Expo,” organized by Bornrex Inc. The expo will showcase new technologies from various startups and offer test rides of next-generation personal mobility devices.
Further details about the program and tickets will be announced in the future. The festival is also seeking vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and participants for the “Nodojiman Contest” and “Minor’s Claims” at the former Nishi-Ochiai Junior High School.

WACK-Style Cultural Festival
The “WACK-Style Cultural Festival” to be held at the former Nishi-Ochiai Junior High School will feature performances by ExWHYZ, GANG PARADE, ASP, Mameshiba no Taigun Tokyo a.k.a. MONSTERIDOL, BiTE A SHOCK, KiSS KiSS, and Ritchi. Entry to the school area is free, although some content inside the school building and gymnasium will require a fee.
▶ Gymnasium
On both days, the gymnasium will host “WACK EXHiBiTiON in TAMATAMA FESTIVAL 2024,” where attendees can enjoy live performances from all groups. Additionally, the “WACK-Style Cultural Festival Performance” in the gym will feature live music by the Light Music Club, dance performances by the Dance Club, and theatrical productions by the Drama Club (details to be announced later).
▶ Schoolyard
In the schoolyard, the “WACK-Style Sports Festival” will see all participating members split into three teams for various competitive events, including “Bubble Ball Sumo,” “Chase the Ball,” “Pedometer Challenge,” “Tricycle Race (Relay Format),” and “Team Relay.” Other events in the schoolyard will include a “Karaoke Competition” and “Minority Opinions.”
▶ Inside the School Building
Inside the school building, there will be a “WACK-Style Art Exhibition” and “WACK-Style Photo Exhibition.” Additionally, WACK members will lead “WACK-Style Classes,” “WACK-Style Academic Tests,” “WACK-Style Group Rooms,” and “WACK-Style Live Broadcasts” on both days.
NiEW TOWN PARTY』
At the upcoming “NiEW TOWN PARTY” in the Parthenon Tama area and Parthenon O-dori in front of Tama Center Station, several exciting events have been announced:
▶ “exPoP!!!!!@TAMATAMA2024”
The outdoor stage set up in front of Parthenon Tama will feature a special edition of the popular free-entry event “exPoP!!!!!,” called “exPoP!!!!!@TAMATAMA2024.” Confirmed performers include Sunny Day Service, Summer Eye, Sarasa, Tomonari Sora, Nagakumo, Haruko Oishi, Khaki, and HALLEY. Additional performance dates and artists will be announced soon. An audition for this stage is now open at TuneCore Japan.
▶ “Tokyo Curry Culture in TAMA”
Alongside “exPoP!!!!!@TAMATAMA2024,” the “Tokyo Curry Culture” festival will take place, showcasing a variety of curry styles from katsukare to spice curries and South Indian dishes. Curated by curry expert Hiroaki Matsumoto (Curry Cells), this event will feature a selection of top curry spots. More details on participating restaurants will be announced later.
▶ “TAMA Tech 2024. Autumn – Tama ‘Machizukai’ Technology Expo”
Inside the Parthenon Tama open studio, the “TAMA Tech 2024. Autumn – Tama ‘Machizukai’ Technology Expo” presented by Bornrex Inc. will be held. This expo will highlight innovative technologies from startups and offer opportunities to test next-generation personal mobility solutions, giving attendees a chance to experience cutting-edge startup services.
