ROTH BART BARON’s 10th Anniversary Tour: A Celebration of Their Debut Album

ROTH BART BARON has announced their nationwide tour, titled “ROTH BART BARON 10th Anv TOUR 2024-2025 / Ice Age: Melt and Blooms.”

Following the successful completion of their festival, “ROTH BART BARON ‘10th ANNIVERSARY’ — BEAR NIGHT 5” on August 4th, folk rock band ROTH BART BARON, led by Masaya Mifune, will embark on a tour starting in November. The tour, themed “Thawing Snow and Blossoming Flowers,” celebrates the 10th anniversary of their debut album “The Ice Age” released in 2014. It will feature a mix of performances, including a special “with Strings” arrangement with a string quartet and traditional band setup, spanning 18 shows nationwide. Additionally, new artist photos reflecting the tour’s theme, taken by photographer Kichijoumaru Shimamura, have been released, along with comments from Masaya Mifune.

Ten years ago, I was in the corners of New York and Philadelphia creating Ice Age. Driven by a reckless ambition, I decided to make my debut album in America, determined not to let my dreams remain just dreams. Looking back from my current perspective, I feel that choice was far from wrong. I’m glad I took the leap and struggled; I’m grateful not to have become an adult bound by the gravity of my dreams. The people and the music I encountered there became a part of me, helping me grow significantly—an invaluable, irreplaceable experience.

People on the other side of the world live lives that are neither dreams nor fantasies. I still rely on the sensations that have seeped into my being, recalling the sights, sounds, and the music that blended with the cities. With the help of many friends, Roth’s music has expanded globally. Continuing in music for ten years is not something to be taken for granted.

Ten years ago, I was making music in a frozen world after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Now, the ice has completely melted, and the exposed earth and harsh realities hit us daily. How will the music of Ice Age sound ten years later in this thawed world? If flowers timidly bloom in the cruel spring after the snow melts, I want to create new sounds within that landscape.
