The special exhibition “Gomi Unchi Exhibition” will be held from September 27, 2024, to February 16, 2025, at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT in Roppongi, Tokyo.
This exhibition addresses the concept of waste and excrement as dynamic elements that do not remain static, but rather move, interact, and circulate in complex ways within the world. While in nature, waste and excrement typically do not linger indefinitely, in human society, they are often culturally shunned and become significant issues. The exhibition explores the presence of these elements, from our immediate surroundings to outer space, framing the global cycle of waste and excrement as the “pooploop.” It aims to confront the social issues revealed by reexamining these often-ignored aspects of life.
