YENTOWN will be the guest performer at Nas’s solo concert at Zepp Namba in Osaka on Wednesday, September 18th.
Nas, an acclaimed American rapper renowned for his lyrical prowess, has been a major figure in the hip-hop scene since the 1990s. He has released numerous critically acclaimed albums, beginning with his 1994 debut “Illmatic.” Other notable works, such as “Nastradamus” (1999) and “Street’s Disciple” (2004), have been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His 2020 album “King’s Disease” won the Best Rap Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards. In 2023, Nas performed at the “Hip Hop 50 Live Concert” at Yankee Stadium in New York, celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, where his collaboration with Lauryn Hill attracted significant attention.
This solo performance will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his debut album “Illmatic. The band will also perform as the first-day headliner at the “Blue Note Jazz Festival in JAPAN” to be held at Ariake Arena in Tokyo on September 21 and 22.
YENTOWN, a guest act, is a hip-hop collective led by producer Chaki Zulu and featuring five rappers (MonyHorse, PETZ, JNKMN, kZm, and Awich) as well as several DJs and producers. In 2024, the 10th anniversary of the group’s formation, they have become more active as a crew, appearing in “RASEN,” a microphone relay curated by Red Bull, and performing at the “KOBE MELLOW CRUISE 2024” music festival. In May, they released their first song, “Fortunately in the midst of misfortune,” under the name “YENTOWN,” based on the cypher from “RASEN.
