Blue Note JAZZ FESTIVAL in JAPAN” will be held on September 21 and 22 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
The first lineup of performers has been announced at the same time. On the first day, rapper/lyricist Naz (NAS), known as the “King of MCs,” and PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC feat. GEORGE CLINTON, the founder of P-Funk, will perform. The second day will be headlined by CHICAGO, which has sold over 100 million CDs/records worldwide, and SNARKY PUPPY, a five-time Grammy Award-winning ensemble. Tickets are now available by lottery for members of Blue Note Tokyo, Creativeman, and Udo Music Office.
Blue Note JAZZ FESTIVAL” was launched in 2011 under the auspices of Blue Note New York. This will be the first time the festival has been held in Japan in eight years, since 2015 and 2016. This year’s event will be held at the Ariake Arena, replacing the previous event held at the Yokohama Red Brick outdoor stage.
The 2024 festival, scheduled to be held in June, will feature a lineup that includes veteran artists such as Wynton Marsalis and Michel Camilo, as well as the much-talked-about “Jazz in New York City” and “Jazz in New York City”. The festival will also be held in Napa, California beginning in 2022, with Robert Glasper as artist-in-residence and Dave Chappelle as host. The festival has hosted Mary J. Blige, Thundercat, and Snoop Dogg, among others.
Naz will perform at Zepp Namba in Osaka on September 18 (Wed), and PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC feat. GEORGE CLINTON will perform solo at Zepp Namba in Osaka on September 17 (Tue) and at DIAMOND HALL in Nagoya, Aichi on September 19 (Thu). Tickets are now available by lottery for Creativeman members.
