Fujii Kaze’s “Shinunoga E-Wa” has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
“Shinu no ga ii wa” is a track from his first album “HELP EVER HURT NEVER,” released in 2020. It has become a global hit originating from Japan, topping Spotify’s list of “Most Streamed Domestic Artist Songs Overseas” for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023.
Currently, the RIAA certifies Gold for a digital single or 150 on-demand audio or streaming plays as one unit, totaling 500,000 in the United States. “Shinu no ga ii wa” achieved Gold certification on June 5th. Previously, Japanese artists like Kyu Sakamoto’s “Sukiyaki” and Kenshi Yonezu’s “KICK BACK” have also received Gold certifications.
During late May to early June, Fujii Kaze conducted the “Fujii Kaze and the piano U.S. Tour,” culminating in performances at New York’s Apollo Theater. Following his performance, a custom Gold Disc plaque was surprise-presented by Republic Records of Universal Music Group.
The U.S. tour, featuring four sold-out shows in Los Angeles and New York, coincided with the announcement of the Gold Disc. Photos from the live performance on June 2nd in New York were also released. Fujii Kaze is gearing up for a stadium performance at Nissan Stadium in August, expected to draw 140,000 attendees over two days.
