Kenshi Yonezu’s ” KICK BACK ” has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The RIAA, founded in 1952, certifies albums as Gold and Platinum based on sales and streaming frequency in the United States. KICK BACK” was officially certified Gold on October 24, 2023 with 500,000 units, making it the first song with Japanese lyrics to achieve this feat.
The song was released for distribution in October 2022 and on CD in November of the same year. Kenshi Yonezu wrote it as the opening theme for the TV anime “Chainsaw Man.” The arrangement was co-written by Kenshi Yonezu and Daiki Tsuneda of King Gnu / millennium parade. “We’re ALIVE ” by Morning Musume
The film “The Boy and the Heron” directed by Hayao Miyazaki, in which Yonezu sings the theme song “Globe,” will be released in the U.S. on December 8 (Friday).
