The second batch of artists for “TOKYO ISLAND 2024,” which will be held at Umi-no-Mori Park in Tokyo from October 12 (Sat) to 14 (Mon) (national holiday), has been announced.
TOKYO ISLAND”, which has been held since 2022, is an outdoor festival where people can enjoy music, camping, BBQ, fireworks, workshops, and more in the heart of Tokyo. The venue, which will also be used as a competition venue for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and is roughly the same size as Tokyo Disneyland, is a planned park on a new reclaimed island in Tokyo Bay, which is normally off-limits to visitors. The park is scheduled to open in the spring of 2025, making 2024 the last time the “Mysterious Place Nobody Knows” will be held.
In addition to the 12 artists already announced, this second announcement adds KANA-BOON, BREIMEN, and Base Ball Bear to the first day, and ZAZEN BOYS, HEY-SMITH, and Yabai T-shirt Shop to the second day. On the third day, titled “androp 15th Anniversary day,” 9mm Parabellum Bullet, Saucy Dog, UNISON SQUARE GARDEN, and wacci were newly added.
The call for workshop participants is now open. A wide range of workshops are being sought, including those that coexist with the outdoors and nature, those that are suited to parks surrounded by the sea and sky, and those that are unique to Tokyo and brim with individuality. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 9. If you are selected, you will be notified by August 23 (Fri.).
Entrance tickets and entrance tickets with parking are now being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through E-Plus and Ticket Pia. Admission is free for elementary school students and younger for each accompanying parent or guardian. For 2024, if you purchase a 2-day or 3-day ticket, you can bring your own tent and stay overnight camping for free. 1-day tickets are also available on a first-come, first-served basis for seat zones and tent zones, making it easy to enjoy the outdoors.
The only transportation to the venue is by car, motorcycle, or shuttle buses departing from Tokyo Teleport Station. For cars, a ticket with a parking ticket must be purchased, and for motorcycles, a 500 yen per day bicycle parking fee is required at the site on the day of the event. The shuttle bus fee is included in the ticket price.
Message from “TOKYO ISLAND” Captain Atsushi Shikano
As June has arrived and the summer festival season is finally in the air, we are pleased to announce the second batch of artists! We are pleased to announce the second batch of artists.
This time there will be 10 artists for the three days of the festival. The biggest group of artists has been selected this time! We have 22 artists in total, and I think you are beginning to get an idea of what to expect at TOKYO ISLAND for the third time.
There are artists and bands that have returned to the festival scene, artists and bands that perform shows where you never know what will happen, artists and bands that are already familiar with TOKYO ISLAND for the third time, artists and bands that will surprise you with their unexpectedness, and so on. It is a great pleasure for us as a festival to be able to see various colors and expectations among the 22 groups. Moreover! The third and final day of the festival will be a very special day to celebrate androp’s 15th anniversary with them and their friends.
TOKYO ISLAND has always been a great story of holding the festival at the site of a park that is yet to be opened to the public, but the park is scheduled to open in the spring of next year. This will be the last time the festival will be held in this “mysterious place that no one knows about”. The park has been cleared, street lights have been installed, parkways and boardwalks have been built, and the atmosphere of a park is beginning to emerge. This year marks a turning point in the transformation of Umi-no-Mori Park from a “plaza” for the Tokyo Olympics to the largest park in Tokyo, and we sincerely hope that you will enjoy the park to the fullest with the best live performances.
“Difference” is very important for festivals, and TOKYO ISLAND, including the venue itself, is a festival full of difference. This year too, we are going to hold this festival with a lot of “differences” and dreams in our hearts.
This festival offers the best live music and environment as a music festival, but we also offer a variety of fun and enjoyment in addition to the live music.
This year again, we will be launching the “Music Fireworks” to the accompaniment of famous songs. A stroll in the car through the natural surroundings will bring you to the “Terrifying Fireworks” where you will encounter the “Unbelievable”! The “Dinosaur Exploration Tour” will take visitors on a stroll in a car through the natural surroundings, where they will encounter “something they never expected! You don’t find them, you become them! You can enjoy the “Tyrannosaurus Race” with various workshops, gourmet food, and more. To further enhance the attractions and outdoor activities, we will be holding an “open call” for workshops! We have been developing a lot of playground equipment and crafts for children, adults, families, and even for single people, but we have decided to call for a wide range of workshops in order to meet new people who are looking for a new kind of fun.
We are looking for things that coexist with the outdoorsy nature, things that suit the park surrounded by the sea and sky, things that are unique to Tokyo, things that are full of individuality, things that are full of dreams of making and drawing, and so on! The theme was “Let’s create and draw something! We are looking forward to receiving applications from people and groups who think “I am the one!
Let’s create a festival overflowing with individuality and hope together! For more information, please check the official website. There are still four months until the third festival will be held at Umi-no-Mori Park, a 15-minute bus ride from Odaiba, an area the size of the Tokyo Dome, a park created by the natural beauty of Tokyo, and a park with a panoramic view of the entire Tokyo area from Disneyland to Airport by solda, Sky Tree and skyscrapers.
The best of summer, the best of music, and the best of holidays await you on the other side of October. TOKYO ISLAND is also a convenient large-scale outdoor festival in Japan, and this time, as a special event just before the opening, you can pitch your tent and camp for free. Beginners are also welcome, so please do not use this opportunity to enjoy camping experience including BBQ and bonfire. It’s really a lot of fun.
Once again, check out the best artists, enjoy the location of Umi-no-Mori Park, and check out the workshops and attractions that are open to the public. Tickets are now on sale and TOKYO ISLAND is waiting for you and yours. Come celebrate the festival in Umi-no-Mori Park with the best music and environment!
