Martin Parr’s photography exhibition “FASHION Faux PARR” will be held at art cruise gallery by Baycrew’s in Toranomon Hills, Tokyo, from Friday, May 3 to Sunday, June 16.
The exhibition focuses on “FASHION Faux PARR,” a collection of photographs by Martin Parr, a British documentary photographer known for his humorous and cynical style.
FASHION Faux Parr is the first book dedicated to the fashion photography of Martin Parr, who has worked on editorials for international brands such as GUCCI and Balenciaga, as well as for international editions of Vogue. The book contains over 250 color photographs, including many never-before-published works, some of which have appeared in editorials for fashion magazines such as Vogue, documentary photographs taken behind the scenes at fashion events, and portraits of industry icons.
This is the first time that a photography exhibition dedicated to the book has been held in Asia. Martin Parr, who views fashion as a concept and phenomenon, will be exhibited by Bay Crewe’s, an apparel production and sales company, in order to question and reconsider the concept of “fashion” from the perspective of the organizer.
The exhibition will feature a total of 16 works selected by the photographers themselves and the gallery, and the works will be available for purchase. A collection of photographs and prints of the works will also be available for purchase. The venue was designed by creative director Osamu Ouchi.
