The fifth batch of artists, day and stage assignments for “Hibiya Music Festival 2024,” to be held in Hibiya, Tokyo, on June 8 (Sat.) and 9 (Sun.), have been announced, and the first lottery for tickets, which are only required for some stages, has begun.
Hibiya Music Festival is a free music event that started in 2019 with music producer Seiji Kameda as the executive committee chairman. With the concept of “a free and borderless music festival where everyone can create a new cycle of music,” the festival has been realized completely free of charge through crowdfunding, corporate sponsorship, and subsidies, with the desire to provide everyone with an open opportunity to hear great music performed live. Stages will be set up in various locations in Hibiya Park, including the Large Concert Hall, commonly known as “Nogune,” the Small Concert Hall, the First Flower Bed, the Health Plaza, the Grassland Plaza, the Large Hall and Small Hall at the Hibiya Library and Cultural Center, and the satellite venue, Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, creating an open space with music for all generations to enjoy. The newest additions to the lineup are the following.
Seventeen groups have been newly announced for this year’s festival. The new lineup includes Motoharu Sano, one of Japan’s leading rock musicians; Sayuri Ishikawa, whose powerful voice has been a mainstay of the Hibiya Music Festival; Shinya Ishihara (Vo/Gt) of the three-piece guitar rock band SaucyDog; the piano trio band H ZETTRIO; the guitarist Ovall, who is also active as a producer and composer; and the guitarist and composer of the band H ZETTRIO. Shingo Sekiguchi, guitarist of Ovall, who is also active as a producer and composer, Yuga, a singer-songwriter who is also active with Jane Jade, and Fujikochans, a chorus unit known for their music for the anime “Lupin III. The festival has also announced that 52 artists who have previously been announced for the festival will perform.
At the same time, the day and stage schedules for the 52 groups that have been announced so far have also been announced. The timetable will be announced at a later date.
The Playguide lottery for the “YAON” stage of the main concert hall, which is the only stage for which tickets are required, has also started. The deadline is Thursday, May 9. There is no ticket fee, but a system fee of 220 yen per electronic ticket and 340 yen per paper ticket is required.
With only a little more than a month to go until the festival opens, information on a wide variety of contents has also been released. The festival will feature a beer garden area for the first time, the “Hibiya Music Festival 2024 HIROBA MUSIC WEEKEND,” an after-event that will be held for two weeks after the festival in conjunction with the “HIBIYA MUSIC WEEKEND” at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, and workshops produced by conductor Hideaki Hirai. The main personality will be Seiji Sugata, and GAMO (T.Sax), Takashi Kato (Gt), and Harami-chan from Tokyo Sky Paradise Orchestra, who are scheduled to perform at the festival, will be invited as guests to discuss the highlights and concept of “Hibiya Music Festival 2024”.
