The planetarium show “Pink Floyd – The Dark Side Of The Moon” will be held at Konica Minolta Planetaria TOKYO DOME1 in Yurakucho, Tokyo, from Friday, April 19 to Thursday, May 9.
Pink Floyd – The Dark Side Of The Moon” is a project commemorating the 50th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd’s album “Madness” (original title: The Dark Side Of The Moon). The Dark Side Of The Moon – is a newly produced film by Pink Floyd as part of a project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of their album “Madness”. A full-sky video of all 10 songs from the album, in the order in which they were recorded, will be projected in a planetarium. In Japan, the first performance was held at Konica Minolta Planetaria TOKYO DOME1 in June 2023, and tickets were sold out immediately. Since then, it has received a great response, with additional screenings in Tokyo in July and an encore screening in the fall, as well as screenings in Fukuoka in 2023 and a re-screening from March to April 2024 at the Fukuoka Science Museum.
This year’s screenings were met with the following comments: “I wish they’d turn up the volume!” I want to be exposed to more Pink Floyd! and “I want to be exposed to more Pink Floyd!” In response to these requests, this year’s screening will be an unprecedented “explosion screening” for a planetarium. In addition, the 5.1 surround mix, which takes advantage of the planetarium dome’s acoustic characteristics, has been re-mixed for the bombastic screening. The content is designed to allow the audience to enjoy the sonic world of “Madness” even more deeply.
Tickets for screenings from Friday, April 19 to Tuesday, April 30 will be available at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, and from Wednesday, May 1 to Thursday, May 9 at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19 online.
