The film ‘Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd’ will be released in Japan on Friday, May 17 under the Japanese title “Syd Barrett: Alone in Madness.
The film is a documentary about Syd Barrett, the namesake of Pink Floyd, a pioneering and still influential progressive rock band formed in 1964, and a central figure in the band’s early years. The film uses dozens of “testimonies” and documentary footage of Barrett’s life, including those of his band members, his own sister Rosemary, Blur’s Graham Coxsone, The Who’s Pete Townsend, and dozens of others. The film is a close-up look at the life and work of the band members and their sister Rosemary.
The director and interviewer was Storm Torgerson, a graphic designer who worked on the design of Pink Floyd’s “Madness (The Dark Side of the Moon)” album and died in 2013. After the death of Torgerson, who was also known as Barrett’s old friend, filmmaker Roddy Bogwana took over his will and completed the film.
The main visual and trailer were released along with the release of the information. The trailer includes audio interviews, Syd Barrett’s performance scenes, and comments from Peter Barakan.
Syd is one of the founders of the British psychedelic era.
After leaving Pink Floyd, he was a figure hidden by much speculation, but his true image finally emerges in this film, in which members of Floyd and others involved, friends and lovers, tell the details.
