NOT WONK released “Asshole (Unplugged Mix),” their first new song in three years, as a single for distribution on Tuesday, March 5.
The song will be sold exclusively at the tour venues in celebration of the “SUPERCHUNK and NOT WONK “PNEUMATIC TOUR 2024″” split tour with SUPERCHUNK, which will start on March 20 (Wed., national holiday). The song will be included on a double A-side split 7-inch with SUPERCHUNK’s “Hyper Enough (Acoustic),” which will be sold exclusively at the tour venues, and will be distributed on short notice.
Mac McCaughan of SUPERCHUNK introduces the song, “Despite the punk sounding title, it is actually a delicate acoustic number with a sweet Beatles-like melody. He introduced the song as “a sweet, Beatles-esque melody and delicate acoustic number.
The song is a quiet, angry opener for NOT WONK as they begin work on their new album.
I generally dislike straightforward expressions as they lack artistry, but the level of being a complete jerk was so overwhelming that I couldn’t help but feel sorry. Thus, I decided to express my sentiments on ASSHOLE Taro’s charming forehead with a piece of art.

This is SUPERCHUNK’s first visit to Japan in 4.5 years, and the split tour will tour ELLCUBE in Tomakomai, Hokkaido on Wednesday, March 20 (national holiday), FANDANGO in Sakai, Osaka on Saturday, March 23, and FEVER in Niyoda, Tokyo on Sunday, March 24. The Tokyo show is sold out, and only a few tickets remain for the Tomakomai and Osaka shows.
